REBIRTH::COLLECTIVE

Facebook said: "Jazz nonet founded and led by Belgian trombonist Dree Peremans, performing mainly his own compositions and arrangements."

Which was reason enough for me to investigate and I'm glad that I did.
Mini big band, the Rebirth::Collective brings both jazz standards and original material in a rather traditional way.
And there's nothing wrong with that. It sounds great.

In contrast with their first three (instrumental) albums, their latest release, "It Might As Well Be Swing" from 2021, has Tutu Puoane on vocals.
Nice.

Dree Peremans (trombone), Jo Hermans (trumpet, flugelhorn), Bruno Vansina (alto sax), Wietse Meys (tenor sax), Joppe Bestevaar (baritone sax), Ewout Pierreux (piano), Jos Machtel (bass), Matthias De Waele (drums), Tutu Puoane (voice).

The Rebirth::Collective has 4 albums out. All on the Soulfactory record label.
