L33KADELIC is another of L33K5P1N's musicial projects, where he uses Artificial Intelligance to mix and blend musical genres and/or lyrics. L33KADELIC, being more disco oriented. It still works, but personally, I think the P-Funk works better when you mix some Zappa in.
The albums got released on Bandcamp and made available on CDR. The CDR versions were limited to 10 copies each. Jewel case + obi.
Coming out in March of 2026, celebrating 60 years of the legacy of Soft Machine. ‘Thirteen’. Featuring John Etheridge, Theo Travis, Fred Baker, Asaf Sirkis.
The brand new Soft Machine studio album ‘Thirteen’ has now been recorded, mixed and mastered and it is time to get it ready to send out into the world. Our first studio album since 2023’s ‘Other Doors’ and our first with new drummer Asaf Sirkis, who has made such a big impression on recent tours.
The album also features John Etheridge (now 50 years with the band!), Theo Travis, and Fred Baker. Special guests on the album include organist Pete Whittaker on two tracks and Daevid Allen on glissando guitar on one track. Of course Daevid Allen was a founding member of the band, but has not appeared on a Soft Machine recording for sixty years! So this is something very special.
Atmospheric improvisations, psychedelic free jazz, powerful jazz rock, screaming guitar, hypnotic looped alto flutes, fretless bass grooves, deep melodies and experimental electronic music, Soft Machine continues to pursue its musically ambitious, wide ranging, jazz based but without boundaries agenda in creating the most ambitious and adventurous heartfelt music we can make. The band hopes you like it as much as they enjoyed making it. With cover image by artist Esra Kizir Gokcen and design by Carl Glover.
Legendary psych outfit Gong are back today their new single ‘Stars In Heaven’ alongside a brand new music video created by Drain Hope. The band have also teased the release of their new album which fans will see in 2026 and shared the album’s name – Bright Spirit.
“It’s such an eclectic record,” says singer and guitarist Kavus Torabi. “This is the most colourful and kaleidoscopic album so far from this incarnation of the band. There are Eastern-infused epics, long instrumental jazz-inspired sections, meditative and cosmic detours and blistering, incendiary psychedelic rock. When picking the first song to be released, it has felt as if there’s an extra weight on the choice, as if the song somehow has to represent the whole album.”

L33K5P1N's series of AI generated P-Funk albums have been finding their outlet in CLINKADELIC. All of L33K5P1N's production are available from Bandcamp or as beautifully crafted CDR albums (limited to 10 copies, jewel case with an added obi !)
Some the CLINKADLIC albums use Frank Zappa lyrics (and music) as inspiration. Just to give you a more obvious example: 'Parrot In Restraints' took 'Penguin In Bondage' as a source.
The funk is amazing and the lyrics are hilarious. I'm a fan.
In recent months, Hans Annellson has released several re-arrangements of Frank Zappa's music on his Bandcamp page. It thought it hard to imagine that he still has time to write and work on his own, original music, but this latest release proves me wrong.
This year, the BIMHUIS Composition Commission has been awarded to Corrie van Binsbergen. Fragments of text, lines of poetry, sentences from interviews with artists, film dialogues and more form the libretto that forms the basis of her new composition. It will be performed by a special septet of mostly young musicians with whom Van Binsbergen has not worked before. She herself will control the text samples on stage and play the guitar.
Corrie van Binsbergen is a composer, guitarist and leader of the Brokken Foundation, with which she has initiated countless cross-border projects. She became known with her group Corrie en de (Grote) Brokken. She developed a unique and surprising combination of music and literature, which she calls films for the ears. She has collaborated with many writers, including Remco Campert, Manon Uphoff, Josse De Pauw and Toon Tellegen. She has received important awards, including the Boy Edgar Prize and the Buma Classical Award 2024.
Univers Zero: Uzed (Remastered) (2025, cd, Belgium, sub rosa)
Univers Zero's "Uzed" album got a remastered re-release on the Belgian Sub Rosa record label.
Originally released in 1984 ! I have to admit that, at the time, the early eighties Rock In Opposition / Chamber Rock / Avant-Prog movement passed me by. I had too much Zappa & Mothers music that needed all of my attention. That being said, it's nice that some of these older albums are being re-issued. It's a great way to catch up.
Complex, dissonant, adding influences and sounds from classical music, minimalism, and even some oriental flavour, "Uzed" sounds great. I love the overall classical sound.
AND, this remastered version comes with a bonus track !!
I recently enjoyed Vitas Guerulaitis' 2015 "Le Tigre" album so much that I decided to hunt down their first album. Released in 2011, Vitas Guerulaitis' eponymous release presented 8 tracks. Adventurous, wild, energetic, and funny !!
To my surprise, Gil Mortio and Pierre Vervloesem are mentioned as they were responsible for recording, mixing and mastering. It's a small world.
The Residents: The Way We Were (Expanded) (2025, download / streaming, --, bandcamp / klanggalerie) (2025, 2cd, Austria, klanggalerie)
Originally, "The Way We Were" got released in 2005 by the Ralph America record label. As a limited / numbered CD / DVD package. It presented a 2005 live concert from a short Australian tour. in which the band performed material from their entire career.
Klanggalerie's expanded version re-issues the album with a bonus disc with recordings from the rehearsals for the 2005 concert series.
After the successful Übercode Å’uvre release tour in May, we’re doubling down:
PANZERBALLETT is heading back on tour across Germany in February 2026!
And there’s an exciting new twist:
Behind the kit this time is Aaron Thier – known for his explosive energy, razor-sharp precision, and a rhythmic universe that fits the Übercode concept perfectly.
Linus Hoffmann: Gegen Jede Schablone - Die Biografie Über Frank Zappa (2025, book, Germany, private release)
"Gegen Jede Schablone" presents different aspects of Frank Zappa with a short text on the left page and a picture on the right page. 90 pages, larger format, and in the German language.
I like the concept. I'm just not really impressed by the execution.
TAROT was first formed way back in 1984 when the 4 very young Brits met and went out creating havoc on the Southern gig circuit with their own special brand of Rock. They gained some success and were able to build a loyal following at their many live shows.
However, the band split at the end of 1990 and all went their own seperate musical ways.....until......
In January 2025, after a break of some 35 years, the original 4 members of TAROT (Mcinnes, Snelson , Hills & Benfield) reconnected to start work on an all new album featuring some of their 35 year old originals plus new songs written in 2025. (And, yes, that's Mark Mcinnes that you should know from his Zappatika project.)
All songs are written & performed exclusively by TAROT.
TAROT has its own eclectic take on Rock Music drawing on the bands' collective Musical experience to create a unique "Tarot-sound".
That album 'TAROT - Volume One' is now very near to completion & will be released early 2026 (approx.March 1st) ,with the first single 'Seppuku' coming as soon as November 2025.
Trinary System: The Hard Machine (2025, cd, USA, cuneiform)
Roger Miller's Trinary System has a new album out. On Cuneiform. It's their second album after the "Amplify The Amplifiers" EP in 2016, and their "Lights In The Center Of Your Head" LP from 2019.
The Klanggalerie record label has already added their latest Residents release on Bandcamp.
"The Way We Were (Expanded)" by THE RESIDENTS
The Way We Were was a short retrospective tour by The Residents, consisting of five performances in three cities at the What Is Music? Festival in Australia. This short touring performance began March 4th and ended March 12th 2005.
Shortly after the tour ended, The Residents released a CD and DVD set, Klanggalerie are now proud to present you an expanded version of the album with an 80 minute bonus disc of rehearsals for the show. These versions often differ from the ones performed and also includes Guylum Bardot which didn't make it into the final show.
Kevin Kasting & Carl Clements: Though Seldom Revealed (2025, cd, USA, greydisc records)
"Though Seldom Revealed" is the latest album by Kevin Kastning & Carl Clements. Out on Greydisc Records. This is the duo's 8th album, with more collaborative album projects underway.
"Though Seldom Revealed" presents seven new compositions. Combined with the unique instrumentation, multi-string contraguitars and woodwinds, the music provides a singular and very enjoyable palette.
Marco Bernard: Mody Dick (2025, 2cd, Finland, Seacrest oy)
Bass player and founding member of The Samurai Of Prog Marco Bernard released several solo albums. His recent “Moby Dick” 2 CD set presented his Prog concept "Moby Dick"(CD1) and a bonus CD "Undercover Deux" (CD2) - featuring Marco's favorite covers.
Both CDs were inserted into the triple fold-out sleeve as separate albums, both in a separate cardboard sleeve.
CD2, the “Undercover Deux” album included Marco Bernard’s versions ‘Uncle Remus' (Duke/Zappa), next to 'In The Dead Of The Night' (E.Jobson), 'Race With The Devil On A Spanish Highway' (A. DiMeola), 'Good Times Bad Times' (Page, Bonham, Jones), and more.
"Moby Dick" (CD1) is a fine prog album, but I really enjoyed listening to "Undercover Deux". Great.
The cult London psychedelic scientists have quite a history…founded by Dave Mclean and Paul Lake in 1987, The Chemistry Set's discography now stands at 54 releases and, since their comeback in 2008, every single and album have 'sold out' on release. For some inexplicable reason, they’ve given Fruits de Mer exclusive rights to pretty much everything they’ve released since they got back together – in fact, we created the ‘Regal Crabomophone’ label specifically for the band; this is their new single...
Indonesian guitarist Dewa Budjana's "Zentuary" album got released in 2016. Excellent fusion, featuring TONY LEVIN - GARY HUSBAND - JACK DEJOHNETTE - DANNY MARKOVICH - TIM GARLAND - GUTHRIE GOVAN - SAAT SYAH - UBIET - RISA SARASWATI - THE CZECH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
I was too late to order my copy at the time (and the album sold out) which resulted in me having a completely battered digipack / second-hand copy.
The cover versions continue at the Fruits de Mer record label as one of the next releases will be by the Behind The Sun Collective. The songs in question are Marc Bolan's 'Children Of The Revolution', and George Clinton's 'Maggot Brain'. What a combo...
Announced on the Fruits de Mer record label: "A Tribute To Sandy Denny", A 7" with two tracks, performed by The Owl Service: 'The Sea' and 'Genesis Hall'. Available in two vinyl colours.
Vitas Guerulaitis: Le Tigre (2014, cd, Belgium, cheap satanism records)
As far as I can tell, Vitas Guerulaitis only released two albums: "Vitas Guerulaitis" (2011) and "Le Tigre" (2014).
The record label mentioned: The band comprises three French activists who sought refuge in Brussels.
No clue if that's true but I can tell you that this is an excellent release.
From a commercial or logical point of view, I completely don't understand why one would name a band after a tennis player. All I can say is that this is a fine record !!
"100 Guitares sur un Bateau Ivre" (100 Guitars on a Drunken Boat) seemed like a bizarre title but when I started listening to the album, I thought that I heard a boat on the sea... Extraordinary, as all the sounds on the album were produced by guitars.
Gilles Laval is known for his experimental approach. His latest album got released on the Cuneiform Records label and will be of interest for anyone with adventurous ears. Collages, soundscapes, bobbling chords and rippling melodies.
Anton Barbeau's "Glitch Wizard" is what happens when grief, psychedelics, and an unhealthy Steely Dan obsession collide in a basement studio named "Dark Mystery Temple." These 12 sonic spells were conjured while Barbeau's father smoked final cigarettes in the next room, with an alternative rock dream team providing the magical backup: Dave Gregory (XTC) wielding guitar incantations, Andy Metcalfe (Soft Boys) weaving bass enchantments, and Donald Ross Skinner (Julian Cope) adding cosmic textures. The result? A dense, glitching tapestry of psych-pop and krautfolk that's less an album and more an emotional exorcism set to music—perfect for listeners who enjoy their pop with a side of existential crisis and a sprinkle of interdimensional travel.
I was unfamiliar with Anton Barbeau's musical escapades but as I received a digital download, I just had to give it a listen. Poppy tunes with some psychedelic effects!!
The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is Ken Field's project. The brand-new "Serpentine" album features:
Ken Field : alto saxophone & flute
Tom Hall : tenor saxophone
Dave Harris : trombone & tuba
Phil Neighbors : drums
Blake Newman : acoustic bass
Jerry Sabatini : trumpet
I had to be told, but the attentive reader will of course see that there are no instruments that can play chords. Accept for the acoustic bass, maybe.
This does, of course, create a different musical balance, with a focus on the horns and how they interact. The result is impressive.
As an additional treat, the ensemble also recorded Frank Zappa's 'Son Of Mr. Green Genes'. Beautiful. My CD copy has been ordered but I'm glad that I can already enjoy the digital download / streaming version.
Öz Ürügülü: Della Morte Dell' Artista (2024, lp yellow vinyl, Switzerland, dead not entertainment)
Third release by fabulous Swiss band Öz Ürügülü. I was convinced that I had seen them at Zappanale quite some years ago, but I got corrected as I saw them at the Zapperlot festival about ten years ago.
The same Zapperlot festival where Mats and Morgan were top of the bill.
Calling Öz Ürügülü eclectic would be an understatement. Video games and cartoon soundtracks come to mind, as does Steve Vai's "Flex-Able" record, with oriental and exotica flavours.
Love it !! LP on yellow vinyl with perfectly fitting artwork.
Frank Zappa: Halloween 78 - Highlights: Live At The Palladium, New York (2025, cd, --, universal music / zappa records zr20049-2)
Frank Zappa's recent "Halloween 78" album has been made available as a (mask including) box set, a 2 LP set (two different coloured vinyl versions), and as a single (highlights) CD.
Slightly delayed, the 'highlights' CD arrived last week. Personally, I would have added all the pieces that L. Shankar participated on, but that's just me.
I also never really understood FZ's (or the American people in general) attraction to Halloween. If, one day, someone will write a paper on Frank Zappa and his affection for Halloween, taken from a sociological, anthropological and even commercial perspective, I would be very interested.
That being said, I'm glad that Frank liked Halloween. It sure resulted in some great concerts.
"Halloween 78 - Highlights", a fine little album but most fans will go for the expanded box set or digital download version.
Luca Calabrese: I Shin Den Shin (2024, cd, --, moonjune records mjr137)
Luca Calabrese and his collaborators released "I Shin Den Shin" in September 2022. The actual album got released by MoonJune Records in September 2024.
Fragile, slow, soothing,... Wow.
I-shin-den-shin is a Japanese concept that describes a form of communication that transcends spoken words, relying on unspoken understanding, empathy, and shared feelings. The term is often translated as "what the mind thinks, the heart transmits" or "a heart-to-heart transmission." It encapsulates the idea that emotions and thoughts can be conveyed and understood without the need for explicit verbal communication.
The concept has its roots in Eastern philosophy, particularly in Zen Buddhism and Confucianism, where the importance of nonverbal communication, intuition, and a deep connection between individuals is emphasized. It's about the ability to convey meaning and understanding through subtle gestures, expressions, and shared experiences.
In a more contemporary context, i-shin-den-shin has also been used to describe certain interpersonal and artistic experiences, such as in music and other forms of art, where a strong emotional resonance is achieved between the creator and the audience, even without direct verbal explanation.
The term can be applied in various contexts, from personal relationships to artistic expression, emphasizing the power of genuine connection and understanding that goes beyond words.
Led Bib's latest release, "Hotel Pupik", is a treat for the ears.
Featuring two saxophones, bass and drums, one can expect a rather particular sound. The low saxophone notes, together with the bass and the drums, set the direction and become the playing field for delicate melodies and improvisations.
I hope your Halloween was safe and fun! I added a brand new deluxe stereo mix of "The Torture Never Stops" to my site. It's still FREE for all Silver Subscribers and available a la carte for anyone else who likes this sort of thing.
You will hear spectacular delays and stereo Tom Tom panning not heard on the MONO mix from yesterday. Both versions are on the site for your fun listening comparisons.
I'll be posting a new version of the performance video on youtube with the stereo mix soon.
There's a lot more of this type of stuff coming. X-mas will be the time of mega bundle releases.
Enclosed as a gift with one of my recent purchases: "The History Of Flo & Eddie And The Turtles", a 16-page promo booklet, by Rhino Records. No year of issue, but from a while ago.
The "Beauty Knows No Pain" compilation / celebration album arrived a little while ago.
As you may recall, Darko The Super’s You Don’t Deserve This Beautiful Art (YDDTBA) label released the “Beauty Knows No Pain” compilation earlier this year, to celebrate it’s tenth anniversary.
The album opened with BLKrKRT sampling FZ’s ‘Beauty Knows No Pain’.
On the left of the picture, Darko's "The Meeting Place". Looks familiar, doesn't it.
I received Swilson's "Demonology" as a free gift with a recent order from Cheap Satanism Records.
Punk, stoner, early seventies, folk, ... Quite an eclectic mix of tunes and styles.
Here's what Mandaï added: About one year ago Cheap Satanism Records received a mail from a band called Swilson. It just started its own label (Hi-Science) to try to put out its own stuff and Ronnie Bass' music. The band asked us if we had any advice on how to get its music heard in Europe. So we listened to the debut album entitled 'Demonology'. It was a blast. We thus thought that we should join forces if we want one day to rule the world. In the meantime here are 8 facts, 4 half-truths, and 1 lie about Swilson.
Swilson is indigenous to Dirty Jerzy and the land where the Misfits began, but several years ago migrated west and now inhabits LA's iPunk scene. Swilson is not related to Brian, Robert Anton, E.O., Peter Lamborn, August, Colin, Woodrow, Charlie, or Mookie, at least not as far as anyone knows. Swilson took his degree in Demonology from TLA University in Philadelphia. Swilson worked as a drunken boardwalk barker, an angry video clerk, a stoned landscaper, and a hip NYC fishmonger before becoming a broke-ass rock musician. Swilson once helped solve a horrific quadruple murder in north Jersey. John Zorn once gave Swilson a map to Aleister Crowley's Abbey of Thelema in Cefalù, Sicily. Demonology, Swilson's first LP, was recorded in a woodshed in the San Fernando Valley and features the drumming of fourteen year-old Sophia DiMatteo. The record contains 12 songs about demons, girls, and demons. Swilson is an amateur historian of the music & politics of Jamaica, though the closest he’s come to Jamaica is Austin, Texas. Swilson tripped over Townes Van Zandt, ate pizza with Lee Ving, and got drunk with Donovan. Swilson has never hung out with Roky, Iggy, or Ozzy. Swilson’s neighbor is the fifth richest man in the world. Swilson won the Satanic Psychedelic Loner Rock Championship in 1989, 1997, and 2011.
Chris Beckers: Late Night Breeze (1992, cd, Germany, intersound)
Imagine my surprise when I read that Germany guitarist Chris Deckers had recorded 'Inca Roads'. It got released on his 1992 "Late Night Breeze" album. Not hard to find at all.
Imagine my disappointment when I found out this 'Inca Roads' was an original piece by Chris Beckers, and not the Frank Zappa composition.
The album is OK. Easy listening & instrumental. Reminds me a bit of Earl Klugh.
I should have verified it before I ordered the album...
I was happy to that I had been able to arrange a stool (well, two actually) as the venue had changed the setting from the (seated) theatre to the (standing room) podium only shortly in advance. It did contribute to the 'club feeling', but I did see quite a number of the older folks looking for a seat at the surrounding raised platform while the concert went on.
We had caught Kameel in concert a couple of years ago already, at the Mosae Zappa festival in Heerlen. But that was on a Sunday afternoon, standing room only, and on day three of the festival. There were only a handful of people in attendance, and I don't need to tell you that I did not stay until the end either. Not because of the music, but because of the circumstances. If you want people to enjoy an experience, you have to create the perfect environment. If you're a bit younger, that could mean having a bar nearby, or a mosh-pit, or whatever. When you get a bit older, or when you really want to focus on the sound / the music, you appreciate a comfortable seat.
Anyway, it was a very fine concert by Kameel at CC De Werft in Geel. And listening to "Variomatic", I can only add that the album is excellent !
Next to the CD, there are also two vinyl versions: a single LP, but also a second version that comes with an additional second LP, with an improvised set. That one's still wrapped...
If you want to check out Kameel (and you should), go to their Bandcamp page.
Big band, little band. Take your pick!
Two chances to catch some unbelievable music with special guest Napoleon Murphy Brock (Frank Zappa, George Duke). See you there!

You are looking at Ed Serling and Ted Beethoven. I even dyed my hair black for the role. We mashed up four Twilight Zone episodes with the tragic life of Ludwig Van Beethoven. Not an easy feat. Of course, I played fast and loose with the facts concerning his life but hey, it’s my style.

Last month, the Moonjune Records label announced "Abracadabra In Tokyo" by Soft Works. The album is out on Bandcamp, but will soon be released on CD in Japan. (in UHQCD / ultimate high quality CD format)
Recorded on tour in Japan in 2003, this is the best of the third night in Tokyo.
The Lovers of Invention are a tribute band from South London who revive Frank Zappa's music with a focus on jazz-rock fusion and progressive rock. The band strives to authentically reproduce Zappa's original sound while capturing the spirit of his live improvisations.
They play a mixture of blues, progressive rock and jazz, inspired by Frank Zappa.
Six to eight musicians and is one of the finest young jazz talents in the UK.
Ben Vize - keyboards, backing vocals and arrangements
Orkest / Orchestra De Ereprijs is a Dutch 15-piece contemporary ensemble (based in Apeldoorn).
Recorded in concert in 2014, and put on YouTube in 2016, they performed Frank Zappa's 'Bamboozled By Love':
The same Orkest De Ereprijs has released several albums. No Zappa tunes to be found there, unfortunately, but they did record a composition by Corrie van Binsbergen for their "Museumtour 2023" album.
Remember the "Who The F*@% Is Frank Zappa? Save The Vault!" kickstarter project?
One of the goodies (when donating a certain amount) was "The Zappa Movie Official Soundtrack Album!". Unfortunately, at the time, one had to chose between an LP or a CD. A missed opportunity for the organizers to get some extra funding, I would say, as some people do like to have both editions.
Anyway, copies of both the LP and the CD are turning up left and right, but they're far from cheap. The same goes for the soundtrack EP that got released at the same occasion (but you had to pledge a bit more to get that one).
The next Zappanale is just around the corner.
Today we are introducing the first two bands, with more to follow in each newsletter.
Back with us at last by popular demand:
OCTAFISH
Energy-charged music and pure contradiction, danceable, intricate tracks, precisely composed and improvised; Mathematically constructed grooves and melody snippets – planned well in advance – fired off spontaneously;
Emotionally weird soundscapes with heart-warming and goose-bump-inducing;
Hypnotic grooves & extraterrestrial melodies;
Handcrafted & electronic.
And yet: it sounds like jazz.
The music magazine Jazzpodium speaks of a ‘daring soundscape’ and rates the music as ‘experimental extra class’
INDUSTRIAL FAKE JAZZ is the name the band itself has given to its sound: rock cascades à la King Crimson, the musical humour of Frank Zappa, fake jazz sounds reminiscent of the New York experimental scene. It's a mixture that has already won international acclaim, leading to collaborations with former Zappa guitarist Mike Keneally.
Harry The Hirsch: Dabei Sein Ist Alles (2024, download / streaming, --, bandcamp / l33k5p1n 84574rd5 ) (2024, cdr, Germany, l33k5p1n 84574rd5)
Originally released on cassette in 1981, Harry The Hirsch’s “Dabei Sein Ist Alles” got re-released on L33K5P1N‘s label in 2024.
The album included a piece entitled ‘Als Ich Gegen Frank Zappa Spielte (Rat Tomago)’, a distorted guitar solo.
L33K5P1N added
‘Als Ich Gegen Frank Zappa Spielte (Rat Tomago)’ included ‘Rat Tomago’ in complete; overlayed with other guitar noises; recorded in 1981.
The album got (re-)released on Bandcamp, and was also made available on CDR.
The CDR version was limited to 10 copies. Jewel case + obi. It looks amazing.
"Landsbysladder", the latest CD by Panzerpappa arrived last week. Instrumental jazz-rock / prog / fusion with beautiful melodies and arrangements. The 'deluxe' edition comes with a 50+ page book with short stories, pictures and selection of scores.
Per W / Pawlowski: Insider / Outsider (2019, cd, --, jezusfactory records / starman records)
Released five years ago, "Insider / Outsider", the fine collaboration between Kloot Per W and Mauro Pawlowski. Pop music, just not the kind you hear on the radio.
🎃 Festival of Samhain: A Halloween Listening Ritual Premieres at Midnight on Halloween Morning — exclusively on Bandcamp Step into the shadows and join me for the Festival of Samhain, a midnight listening experience honoring the ancient turning of the seasons. This is not for the faint of heart—or for those who shy away from the strange and unsettling. This collection is an experiment in sound design, weaving tension, atmosphere, and distortion into an immersive ritual of noise and stillness. Some will find it hauntingly beautiful. Others may find it deeply unnerving. Either way—you’ll feel it. Share it with those who embrace the eerie, the obscure, and the unknown. Happy Samhain.
Can it really be that November is almost upon us? The nights draw in, the falling leaves begin to turn the world upside down again and Christmas begins to feel inevitable. So that's a yes.
The Residents are indifferent to the Fall - they so rarely go outside it really doesn't matter to THEM, but this year is different because, after only forty-five years in the planning, they'll be spending the next two months preparing their ESKIMO world tour! It all begins in suitably wintery Vancouver on also suitably wintery January 8th, and as ever residents.com/tourdates is the place to be when it comes to dates and tickets. Rest assured European dates will follow shortly, and maybe even Japanese dates too, but you didn't hear that from us.
In the meantime, you might like to fill the intervening couple of months with the soon-to-be-classic 'Leftovers (1970-1988)' compilation, which is released next Friday, October 31st. Packed with alternate takes and mixes, lost material and other weird stuff spanning those years, it's next level stuff, all of which was discovered in a long-forgotten annex to The Residents' storage space in 2023. Nobody believes that story, but it's entirely true - this stuff was almost lost for good. Phew! It's available to pre-order in all the usual places, but as ever we recommend you check it out right HERE:
As I type, The Residents are also working hard to put together their own brand-spanking-new Bandcamp site, full of curios, unreleased stuff, rarities you may have missed and whatever else catches their attention. Of particular interest the site will see the debut of the full 'Hunters' OST material, of which there are several hours. It should, if all goes to plan, be quite exciting.
Meanwhile, The Residents continue to work on their next album, which people around them are calling "their dirty-naughty album", as well as a proposed new theatre piece. So next year promises to be an interesting one - watch this space for more news as it comes in. And if you can't wait that long and need MORE RESIDENTS NOW then do not fear - the guys have put together another of their 'Hunters' orientated mini-albums just for you. Something of a sampler for the forthcoming Bandcamp tsunami which, for obvious reasons, they're calling 'I Know An Old Lady.....'.
