AKI TAKASE - ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH - LIVE AT CAFE AMORES

Piano duo Aki Takase and Alexander Von Schlippenbach (also a couple in real life) had Frank Zappa's 'You Are What You Is' on their setlist in the early ninetees.
The composition could be found on their 1995 "Piano Duets - Live In Berlin" album.

More recently, the Lithuanian NoBusiness Records label released another live album by the duo. This time, it's a registration of an August 1995 concert in Japan, and again with FZ's 'You Are What You Is'.
Peculiar about this performance is the fact that Alexander Von Schlippenbach and Aki Takasi played on one  and the same piano. The reason was quite simple: 'Café Amores' is a typical jazz club. It cannot fit two grand pianos on its stage.
Despite having no charts for a four-hands / one-piano performance, the duo agreed and the result is beautiful.
A superb version of a Zappa tune, a bit of Charles Mingus and someThelonious Monk. What else do you need?
