- la jungle: blurry landscapes
(2023, cd, Belgium, black basset records)
The new La Jungle album is out !
Tribal-like rhythms combined with high energy keyboards and guitars.
"Blurry Landscapes" has been released on CD and on Bandcamp but different coloured vinyl have just been announced as well (Blue, Orange, White, Black,...).
"Blurry Landscapes", the duo's sixth album, got recorded during Covid when all the concerts and tours were being cancelled.
For this particular project, La Jungle worked together with ten so-called Outsider Artists (l'Art Brut).
The artwork got collected in a booklet that comes with the album.
Jim and Roxie added:
We invited each of them to listen to a composition from our new album. They were invited to give it a title and to interpret it with a visual work, whatever their technique. Total carte blanche, with the exception of the square format. Square like a record sleeve.
In the edition that accompanies the vinyl and CD, you can discover the different works that emerged from this long process of exchange. They form an integral part of this new La Jungle album.
An outstanding concept.
While you're enjoying the music and browsing through the booklet, I can only recommend that you check out Le Dernier Cri and its publications (https://www.lederniercri.org/, based in Marseille, France), and that you schedule a visit to the Lille Métropole Musée d'Art Moderne (https://www.musee-lam.fr/, in Lille, France).
Here's a sample:
