The starting signal for "Stefan Huefner's ¡ZAPPATA!" was given in 2011, when they celebrated the American rock rebel Frank Zappa with several concerts at the NOW! festival. Stefan Hüfner, professor of pop composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, had arranged several Zappa songs from the 70s and 80s for his ten-piece band. And they promptly received invitations to the big European Zappa festival "Zappanale" and to the Jazzfest Bonn.
Then there was a call from California. Long-time companion, saxophonist and singer of Frank Zappa and Grammy Award winner Napoleon Murphy Brock had heard the band's recordings. Since then, ¡ZAPPATA! has been playing with the famous The Mothers of Invention musician as a star guest - and of course at the start of the tour at the Philharmonie!
