THE RESIDENTS' WONDER OF WEIRD

My favourite Eye Balled Band, The Residents, finished their U.S. tour a little while ago. The European leg of their tour will start in a couple of weeks.
To everyone's delight, the band is bringing some new and re-newed goodies along.

Both "Lonely Teenager" and "Coochie Brake" have been released in an excellent looking digipack.
The "Wonder Of Weird - 40the Anniversary" stamp is present on the inside of the package.

NEW MIKE KENEALLY ALBUM * * WING BEAT ELASTIC

Mike Keneally is releasing a companion album to "Wng Beat Fantastic".

This new album, aptly named "Wing Beat Elastic", presents remixes, demos and even a couple of unreleased tunes of songs that you may (or may not) know from the "Wing Beat Fantastic" album.

Sunday, April 14, WUSB-FM radio (Stonybrook) will be hosting the 2013 edition of the Zappathon : 12 hours of Zappa music.

SUN RA LIVE AT THE RED GARTER UPDATE

A message from the Transparancy label:

After nearly a year, the multiple disc set "SUN RA LIVE AT THE RED GARTER" is finally going to the pressing plant and will be shipped during April (next month).

Please accept my apologies for this album taking so much longer than planned to prepare. Four people ended up working on the mastering -- and there was also a lot of delay from my not knowing how to implement the original concept of putting a folder of Lee Santa's 82 photographs of the event onto one of the audio discs, to then be dragged to the listener's computer desktop.

Much simpler was the revised concept of having the 86 minutes of music be on two audio discs -- and the 82 photos being on a third data disc, so that is how the album is being pressed: three discs.

I am still not entirely happy with some of the audio quality, but am confident that the overall presentation of audio and photos is unique enough that this won't be a distraction. The audio is definitely much superior to when we first got it, and sounds far better than any collector's CD-R's of this that are floating around.

If anyone needs either of these, we also now have copies of Sun Ra: Live at Myron's Ballroom (1981, 3xCD) and Sun Ra: Live at Club Lingerie (1985. 2xCD) which have been out of stock for three years. Very glad to have these readily available again: Someone has constantly listed Myron's Ballroom on Amazon.com for $75. 

GODSTICKS

Godsticks is touring Europe, supporting The Mike Keneally Band.
The band originates from the U.K. and plays guitar-oriented progressive rock music.

The band has a brand-new album out, called "The Envisage Conundrum" (which is a great title for an album!). It's their second album. Their first album "Spiral Vendetta" got released in July 2010. And to complete their discographical data, there's also an EP from 2009.

Last year, March 2012, Godsticks had opened for The Aristocrats on the Aristocrats' five day UK excursion.
March 2013, Godsticks is doing the complete tour with the Mike Keneally Band.
I got to see them in Tilburg and I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of their sound. I guess that it's the 'prog rock vocals'...
Anyway, Godsticks knows their audiences, and so they included Frank Zappa's 'Echidna's Arf (Of You)' in their setlist. That was nice.
During their Manchester gig (on the 22 of March) they had performed Zappa's 'What's New In Baltimore' and 'Marqueson's Chicken'.
