'Masada'.
Masada is a spiritual journey inspired by a visit to an ancient fortress in southern Israel’s Judean Desert, close to the Dead Sea. Recorded live in the studio at Chillhouse with no overdubs, the track features the sintir (or guembri), a 3-string bass lute that comes from the Gnawa tradition of trance healers in Morocco. The earthy roots sound of this instrument is contrasted with turntable beats & samples, along with dub-inflected guitar and Fender Rhodes to create a trance-infused journey into the desert.
