DANIEL SZWED - SPLINTER

  • Daniel Szwed: Splinter
        (2025, download / streaming, --, bandcamp / rope worm)
        (2025, cd, Poland, rope worm)
From the liner notes:
Daniel Szwed presents his trademark ritual/tribal drumming with noisy electronics, pedals and DIY built instruments. Overwhelming and sultry post-industrial material.

"Splinger" presents 6 tracks: one solo piece and five collaborations.
The pulsating rhythms keep you on your toes as you will remain curious on what will come next, what direction the piece will take.
Interesting. Very intersting.

The liner notes continue:
In his explorations, he focuses on a minimalist set, seeking new textures and sound colors. He electrifies drums, venturing into technoidal forms and metallic afterimages based on rhythm. Sometimes he wraps aggressive play in grainy, drone-like layers, while at other times he touches on quasi-metal forms. He unconventionally uses percussion, builds reverb, and delves into the realms of raw techno and rough noise music. He balances on the edge of electroacoustics, metal, and industrial, setting his direction with steady sound and ritual form.

Out on CD on the Rope Worm label, but also available on Bandcamp as a download / streaming release.
The latter also implies that you can give it a listen, which you should.
