ZAPPA NEWSLETTER - - - HALF A CENTURY OF APOSTROPHE (')

The celebration continues, folks! Get in line and pre-order your copy of the Apostrophe (’) 50th Anniversary Edition.

And in the meantime, here are some sonic appetizers to tickle your eardrums. “Penguin In Bondage (Live in Colorado Springs, Colorado),” rare vault track “Approximate – Bale” and a previously unreleased take of “Uncle Remus (Piano and Vocal Mix 2024)” are available to stream on all digital platforms.

Released today, “Penguin In Bondage” is a taste of the March 21st, 1974 Colorado Springs show, one of two full bonus concerts included in the Box Set. Recorded 6 months after the release of Apostrophe (’) at the Mothers’ live set in Basel, Swizerland, “Approximate - Bale” is a track that was selected and re-mixed by Zappa from the original 4-Track live master. On the other hand, “Uncle Remus (Piano and Vocal Mix 2024)” features isolated Piano and Tack Piano tracks by George Duke. It spotlights FZ and the Ikettes vocal master tracks, and is one of multiple versions celebrating the iconic Zappa-Duke joint composition.

These tracks represent three of the 66 unreleased rare studio and live tracks, hand-picked for the 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition.
