Joe Satriani's latest release is a recording of his 2010/12/12 Montreal concert. It will be available as a 3D blue-ray movie and as a standard 2 DVD set. The old fashioned 2 CD audio set got released earlier this week. Hence the little sticker on the jewel case: "Soundtrack to the live 3D film Satchurated: Live In Montreal".


The album title is a nice play on words, but it does indeed raise the question: are we sat(ch)urated, or are we getting more of the same?
The be quite honest: I really like this album. I like the melodic guitar lines, the flashing guitar notes. The addition of a second guitarist and of Mike Keneally on keyboards makes it sound like a real rock band. On the other hand, some of it is a bit predictable.
In all, "Satchurated" is an excellent album. I consider it a fine addition to the Joe Satriani discography. As I didn't catch the band in concert last time, I'll probably get the DVD as well.
