Hilarious, and beautiful.

Keep in mind that Caballero Reynaldo will be performing at the Yellow Snow Festival in Larvik, Norway, next month.
Not exactly my cup of tea, Daevid Allen and his University Of Errors.
I can, however, imagine that Gong freaks have a slightly different opinion.

Here's another one of those superb concert recordings from Zappanale.
The Central Scrutinizer Band finally made it to Germany, last august. This was the Zappanale concert that you needed to be at!
A great show, featuring Ray White, Robert Martin and Denny Walley as special guests.
Ike should have been there as well, but his cab driver got lost and he couldn't make it to the festival ground in time...
Anyway, a must-see or must-hear.

The Muffin Men were one of the first bands to perform at Zappanale. The year was 1991, and there were two bands scheduled: The Muffin Men and Ace 9.
They came back for Zappanale number three, and once more for Zappanale fourteen. Great performances and always big fun.
August 2010, the band took the main stage again: Roddie, Jumpy, Rhino and Mikey, and they were joined by Ike Willis, Ray White, Denny Walley and Robert Martin.

This highlight was also recorded and released in a very limited on DVDR (20 copies !) at the festival.

Every edition of the Zappanale festival introduces one or more bands that might not be known to the average Zappa Music Fan.
Swedish progressive rock band Beardfish is such a band.
Their concert was made available in a very limited edition on DVDR .
In the YouTube movie below, one can hear that these guys are familiar with the music of FZ as well.
So it was no surprise that guitar player Rikard Sjöblom performed a complete Zappa-set at Zappanale with his Bongo Fury project.
French guitar player LiLo performed two concerts at last years Zappanale. First, he performed at the truckstage at the pre-Zappanale party at the Kamptheater, and on Friday, he opened the festival on the main stage at the festival ground.
A limited edition DVDR of the main stage performance was made available at the festival.

Let's kick off the new year with an album that got released earlier last year.
You might have come across Lane Steinberg's name in this very blog when I was rather enthousiastic about the "Cracked Latin" album. With Cracked Latin, Lane Steinberg and Luis Accorsi made a perfect mix of Latin music and psychedelic elements. Great fun, and beautiful.
Lane Steinberg's "Passion & Faith" is also out on the Transparency label and got released around the same time. On "Passion & Faith", we get to view the incredible musical skills of Lane. The album presents a fine collection of great, catchy pop tunes. There's elements of sixties pop and rock, cajun, jazz, and lots more. And besides the beautiful tunes, the album also displays Lane's talent as a guitar player.
Beautiful songs, excellent musicianship and impressive arrangements & productions.
As an unexpected surprise, the album also contains a 'heavy rock' version of Antonio Carlos Jobim's 'How Insensitive', plus a 20-minute plus version of the Dead's 'Dark Star'.
Let this be your first discovery of 2011.
