Ladies & Gentlemen,

Joe D here. It gives me great pleasure to announce Stratospheerius’ first show of the year!

We are excited to double a double bill with our good friend Jane Getter & her band Premonition Sunday, March 1st at 8 PM at the legendary Iridium.
1650 Broadway on 51st St in NYC.

Jane is a badass guitarist, singer, and songwriter who blends jazz and prog to create her own unique sound. Along with her incredible band which features her husband, keyboardist Adam Holzman (Steven Wilson, Miles Davis), drummer Gene Lake, and bassist Paul Frazier, she has toured the world and released seven albums to critical acclaim. Joining Jane on guitar that evening will be our own Michelangelo Quirinale, the hardest working man in show business!

Jane is a friend of the band, and after trying to put a show together for years and overcoming many scheduling challenging, we are excited that we’re finally making this night happen!

This show will also serve as a warmup for Jane’s appearance on Cruise to the Edge March 4-9.

As I’ve mentioned before, Stratospheerius shows are rare these days due to my touring schedule with Kansas, so we really hope you can join us for this special night if you’re in the NY area.

NEW ALBUM

After 6 years of writing, recording, mixing, and mastering, the new Stratospheerius album is FINALLY done! The album will be titled “Impostor!” We are looking at October 11th as the official release date.

Yeah, I know what you’re gonna say. “Impostor” sounds a bit familiar… we did release some singles from this album in the past few years. They’ve been floating around. But the songs have been remixed and remastered, and there’s a whole other side of the album you have NOT heard that will blow your mind! Standby for pre-save and pre-order links in the coming months..

NEW RECORD DEAL

We are honored to have just inked a deal with 7D media, the record label owned by Trey Gunn from King Crimson and AJ Chippera. After a few months of deliberating, comparing options from a few different labels, we have decided to move forward with 7D and are excited about our new collaboration!
We are eternally grateful to our dear friend Nick Katona and his label, Melodic Revolution Records, for everything he and his team have done for the band. Our back catalogue is still available on www.melodicrevolutionrecords.com and our friendship and collaboration on our back catalogue will continue.

Stratospheerius is thrilled to be making our return to the legendary Iridium jazz club in NYC on Feb 9th.

As you know, my touring commitments with Kansas limit the amount of shows Stratospheerius is able to do, so when we DO play, it’s a very special event.

Last May, we celebrated the release of our new double live album/DVD, “Behind the Curtain: Live at ProgStock.”

I’ll never forget that night. It was the day before I flew out to Pittsburgh to play my first ever show with Kansas!

We packed the Iridium, and are grateful to all the fans and friends who came out to mark the occasion. Let’s see if we can pack it even more the second time around!!

This time, we will be joined by our good friends, Ad Astra. This is one of our favorite instrumental fusion bands in New York, led by the brilliant guitarist, Joe Nardulli. Our bands have been each others’ cheerleaders over the years and we’ve played many shows with these guys. It’s a perfect fit!

We’ll be playing some of the old favorites, as well as brand new music from our upcoming studio album.

People of the Earth!

After a nearly 4-month hiatus while I was touring with Kansas, Stratospheerius returns to the live stage with a show at Debonair Music Hall (Teaneck, NJ) on Thursday, September 28th and Kennet Flash (Kennet Square, PA) on Saturday, Sept 30th.

We are joined on the bill by our good friend and keyboardist Bill Hubauer and his incredible band, “We Came from Space.”

We’ll be playing music from our recently released LIVE ALBUM, our new music from our upcoming studio album, and some of the old Stratos “hits!” Our live appearance are rare these days, so don’t miss these shows. We guarantee that fun will be had and many many notes will be played.

I’m a guitarist trapped in a violinist’s body.

Speaking of live music, I'm psyched, overwhelmed with giddiness and excitement to share with you the official release of the new Stratospheerius double LIVE CD/DVD/BLU RAY: "Behind the Curtain (Live at ProgStock)!" 

We have almost 2 hrs of music taken from our 2019 and 2021 performance at our favorite music festival, ProgStock in Rahway, NJ. During the pandemic, I learned to edit videos, and this baby was. LOT of editing! The world changed during the pandemic, and these performances are a snapshot of where we were before, and after the world turned upside down.
The 2021 performance features guest appearances by our good friend Alex Skolnick (guitarist from Testament and former guitarist from Stratospheerius) and Rachel Flowers , the blind multi-instrumental genius, who joins us on piano and flute. 
All these performances were completely spontaneous with little or no rehearsal, and we were able to capture lightning in a bottle! We want to thank our mixing engineer, Matt Vanacoro, mastering engineer Dave Kerzner, assistant editor David P. Levin, Melodic Revolution Records president Nick Katona, our manager Anne Leighton, and our graphics designer/DVD author Joel Barrios, for countless hours that they devoted to this project. Big thank you to Tom Palmieri and Ann Rinaldi for creating the festival and keeping it alive, and for all the volunteers who work there! Joe adds:

While I look forward to all the super cool performances, recordings, and other projects awaiting me in the coming months, I write this with a heavy heart. My family is from Russia. My grandparents and their ancestors on my father's side were from Ukraine. We have many close friends from the Ukraine. Our hearts are breaking for the unprovoked invasion by the tyrant Putin and the unbelievable hardships the people of Ukraine are going through. We pray for peace and a swift end to this terrible war, for Putin to be removed from of power and punished for war crimes, and the Ukraine to be rebuilt and restored to the thriving democracy it deserves to be. We are also concerned that people in the United States and other countries do not blame Russian immigrants living among them for the invasion. People have to realize that we escaped this country decades ago because we distrusted its government and couldn’t see a future for our kids there. Most Russians I know, even the ones living in Russia who can’t speak openly about it, condemn this invasion and despise the man who started it.

The Game of Chicken was recorded live during a performance at Progstock Festival, October 13, 2019 at Union County Performing Arts Center. Rahway, NJ

The "game of chicken" is a game in which two drivers drive towards each other on a collision course: one must swerve, or both may die in the crash, but if one driver swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a "chicken", or a coward.

I thought about how dysfunctional our government is, how we continue to kick the can down the road for future generations to clean up our mess, how we scream over each other in our online media echo chambers and refuse to listen to differing opinions. Our planet is on the verge of destruction and we are too busy trying to destroy each other instead of coming together to try to solve our problems. This is the first single from our upcoming CD/DVD, "Behind the Curtain: Live at Progstock" due out in May 2022. Much more to come...
