I wrote this shortly after Frank Zappa passed away. It is a tribute to the great composer. I was honored to play in his band and record with him.

ARTHUR BARROW RELEASED 'TINK WALKS A LOG'

Arthur Barrow: The Log is short for analog because almost all the sounds are from analog instruments. I have noticed a few covers of "Tink Walks Amok" recently, so I thought it would be fun to use a variation on the Tink theme. Tink was my childhood name which is why Frank Zappa used it for his Tink track which features me.

ARTHUR BARROW - SUBTLE BUGS

Former Zappa band bass player and clonemeister Arthur Barrow says:

This track is inspired by music that Frank Zappa started writing in early 1979. He called it "Saddle Bags" but never finished it, so it is not in his catalogue. A couple of bits of it ended up in other songs, but that's it. I had always thought the ideas he came up with were very cool, and that it would be a shame to see them go to waste. So I borrowed some of his ideas about texture, and inverted or otherwise changed the melodic parts to create "Subtle Bugs." Hope you like it!

Arthur Barrow, who played bass in Zappa's band and has worked quite a lot with Robbie Krieger, has just released another track on Bandcamp :

Arthur Barrow joined Frank Zappa's band in 1978.
Shortly thereafter, he became 'clonemaster', the person in charge of the band's rehearsals.
Arthur stayed in Zappa's band until 1982.

In 1991, Arthur released a solo album called "Music For Listening". It featured the Fowler Brothers and Robert Williams, to name a few.
"Eyebrow Razor" followed in 1995, again with lots of Zappa alumni.
In 1999, Arthur released his 3rd record, "AB3", followed by "On Time" in 2003.

All these albums are worth checking out.

More recently, Arthur has been releasing his music (old & new material) through Bandcamp.
Here is one of his recent pieces, 'Cool2B', with Larry Klimas on sax:
