SUN RA - BLACK MYTH / OUT IN SPACE

This week, my journey through Sun Ra's Intergalactic World took me to "Black Myth / Out In Space", a 2CD set that got released on Motor Records in 1998.
Parts of this set got previously released on vinyl on "Black Forest Myth" (1971) and on "It's After The End Of The World" (1971).

The album includes recordings from the 1970/10/17 Donauschingen Music Festival and from the 1970/11/07 Berlin Jazz Festival.

Superb free jazz and vocal big band stuff (with June Tyson), all included in the same concert.
Very nice.

COUNTRY & EASTERN NEWSFLASH

Here's a newsflash from the Swedish Country & Eastern label. Remember the excellent "Beches Brew" album by Bengt Berger?
That's them.

Beches Brew - West Coast Edition is the Gothenburg based variety of Beches
Brew.

The members are:
Stefan Bellnäs, bass - Bengt Berger, drums - Thomas Gustafsson and Sir Thomas Jäderlund, saxophones - Göran Klinghagen, guitar, banjo and Livet Nord, violin. Since september last year we have been playing wonderful music every saturday at 6 pm in L'Assassino, a great bar in Gothenburg.

We usually have guests in the concerts and in march they will be:
6/3: Sarah Riedel, vocal and Stefan Forsén, piano.
13/3: Fabian Kallerdahl, piano
20/3: Carina M. Johansson, vocal
27/3: TBA

We also made the music for a play at Göteborgs Stadsteater that will open on march 19.
In the opening week, march 16 to 20, we have lunch concerts at the theatre with Carina M. Johansson under the label "In A Sentimental Mood".
I'm afraid that is all sold out but you have a chance to hear it at L'Assassino on march 20 as well.

So there are some good reasons to visit Gothenburg.

JERRY OUTLAW OPENING FOR STEVE MORSE

Saturday, March 6th at the State Theatre in downtown St Petersburg, Florida,....

The STEVE MORSE Band ... and ... JERRY OUTLAW and Friends.

Steve Morse is the legendary guitarist for the Dixie Dregs, Kansas and Deep Purple. The Steve Morse band plays a very unique brand of original fusion that features Steve's pioneering guitar in a power trio format with the amazing rhythm section of Dave LaRue on bass and Van Romain on drums. Truly awe inspiring fusion music from three of the best musicians on the planet!!

Opening the show will be Jerry Outlaw and friends. Jerry has a unique and interesting approach to progressive electric guitar. His rhythm section is Sean Colpoys on bass, Royse Bassham on drums and John
Zahner on keyboards. For local boys, they bring a very high level of
musical intensity. Come on out and get your electric guitar fix!!!
