I first came across Heiner Goebbels on the "Perfect Strangers" album by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra where the ensemble presented works by both Heiner Goebbels and Frank Zappa.

This brand-new album by The Ensemble Modern focusses on Heiner Goebbels' so-called Imaginary Notebook.
During projects, journeys and meetings, composer and director Heiner Goebbels spent years collecting sound fragments in an imaginary notebook. They form the basis of "A House of Call - My Imaginary Notebook".
The result is a mix of sound fragments against music performed by The Ensemble Modern.
Fascinating.
