With the final installment of volumes 18 up to 20 in a couple of weeks, Crossfire Publications is reaching its goal of completing Paul Buff's Cucamonga area recordings.

Again, Volume 17 has a couple of tracks that feature Frank Zappa: The Hollywood Persuaders' "Grunion Run (Alternate Mono Mix)" (composition and performance), The Tornadoes' "Shootin' Beavers" (engineering), and The Pal Studio Band's "Cucamonga Surf (Alternate Take)," "Straight Ahead" and "Sun Dog (Alternate Take)" (surf instrumentals produced by FZ).
The excellent liner notes (by Greg Russo) have been added to the various United Mutations entries of the artists.
