- ali n. askin: up chute
(2023, cd, Germany, yatak)
The first time that I heard Ali N. Askin's jazz project was in 2019 at Zappanale. It was a great show. I remember thinking that it was a pity that they didn't have an album out.
Flash forward, and back a little, to this year's Zappanale where Ali N. Askin did another performance with his jazz ensemble AND (!!) presented his brand-new album.

Ali N. Askin, as you should know, worked as an arranger and orchestrator for Frank Zappa ("The Yellow Shark", "200 Motels",...)
Ali has released several albums but these (or most of these) present the music he did for soundtracks. This latest one, however, is by his jazz sextet.
"Up Chute" presents 7 tracks.
Wonderful modern jazz.
