HITSVILLE DRUNKS ON 7"

I'm not sure if I've mentioned these before, but the Hitsville Drunks (Mauro Pawlowski, Sjoerd Bruil, Herman Houbrechts and Jan Wygers) recently released two 7" singles.

"JC Says JC" is out on Starman Records and was released a couple of weeks before the band's "Sincerely Average" album.

'Beat Girl' was released by the new Trix label on a split 7".

There's a lot of radio broadcast concert recordings being released lately.

There's the Zappa NYC concert, a Little Feat release, a Tom Waits concert, ...

And now Captain Beefheart joined the ranks :

After a couple of 12's, Wild Rumpus (feat. Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy and Gary Lucas) are releasing their first album.
It's a double lp set entitled "Musical Blaze-Up".

CORDELIA RECORDS IS RE-RELEASING R.STEVIE MOORE'S (1952-19??) ALBUM

This is a CD reissue of R. Stevie Moore's seventh L.P. which Cordelia originally released in 1986. In collaboration with the artist himself the new version has been remastered and expanded to about 77 and a half minutes. It comes in a digipak with, this time, a colour photograph on the front.

TOHPATI - TRIBAL DANCE

Indonesian jazz guitar player and composer Tohpati has a new album out on the MoonJune Records label.
The album is called "Tribal Dance" and it features Jimmy Haslip on bass, and former Zappa and Holdsworth collaborator Chad Wackerman on drums.

"Tribal Dance" a superb album, focussing on melodic fusion guitar.

On Tribal Dance, there's no shortage of Tohpati's trademark breathtaking, acrobatic axe-wielding. Towering power chords, distorted spare-note lead lines, unexpected machine gun-blasting sonic assaults, chugging rhythmic grooves, and even a host of elegantly-nuanced jazz phrasings, are all in attendance -- summoned at will, and in omnipotent fashion.
His explosive fretwork often appears as the musical equivalent of a pounching cobra (or one that is coiled and ready to strike!), yet it is his intuitive, prescient interplay with this formidable world-class rhythm section that emerges victorious on this stage. A powerful synergy prevails, as Tohpati locks in with Haslip’s dubmaster basslines and the rubber-limbed, imaginative kitwork of Wackerman. Jim Dvorak, Paul Dunmall, Mark Sanders and Chris Mapp recorded an album for the Slam Productions label.
The album is said to contain a track called "Zapped" (as in 'Frank Zappa').
It should be out in about a month.

Led Bib has been anostonishing the world with their beautiful mix of rock and modern jazz for ten years.
Their latest album, their sixth one,  is entitled "The People In Your Neighbourhood" and is, again, a joy to listen to.

Catchy, energetic intense and hypnotic.
Superb.

OGO DYS - THE REVENGE OF THE WICKED KING PICKLE NICKER

On "The Revenge Of The Wicked King Pickel Knicker", Magnus Lundberg has collected 39 demos of his various Ogo Dys projects.
This 2CDR-set got released on Magnus' Cosmic Pancake Productions label in an extremely limited edition of eight numbered copies. Housed in an-handcraged packge, it is a perfect example of a DIY release. And it sounds great.

I can only repeat myself: you definitely need to check out Ogo Dys. I admit that it's not easy to find the music, but it will be worth your while.
