Originally released in 1981 and re-issued a number of times, Sun Ra's "Sunrise In Different Dimensions" is quite a peculiar release.
Recorded live in Switzerland in1980, the recording presents a slimmed-down version of the Arkestra (no bass saxophone, no trombones, no guitar,...), but a high-energy version one.
Performing classic big band jazz tunes with Sun Ra exploring boundaries on the piano while Marshall Allen, John Gilmore, Noel Scott, Danny Thompson, Kenneth Williams, Michael Ray, Chris Henderson and Eric Walker add and improvise.
