June 6, 1971, journalist and radio broadcaster Howard Smith did an interview with Frank Zappa.

A recording of this interview got released on CD as part of The Smith Tapes series in 2013.

One year later, the Zappa interview CD got re-released as part of the The Smith Tapes Box Set.

In 2015, Ezra Bookstein released "The Smith Tapes: Lost Interviews with Rock Stars & Icons 1969-1972", a 400-page book.

More recently, Blank on Blank did a bit of a Zappa special using a fragment of the Howard Smith interview.
