The last couple of days, I have been mentioning Alex Machacek on a regular basis. Ales was / is part of Eddie Jobson's UKZ project, and he also released a fine album entitled "The Official Triangle Sessions" a little while ago.
A couple of years earlier, Alex Machacek recorded with Terry Bozzio (and also with Patrick O'Hearn).
Reason enough to investigate...
"Improvision" finds Alex Machacek on guitar, Jeff Sipe on drums, and Matthew Garrison on bass.
I already knew that Alex Machacek's guitar playing is not from this world, but if you add Jeff Sipe's crispy drumming, and Matthew Garrison's energetic jazz bass, you get some of the finest and powerfull fusion that you'll have heard in a while.
Out on Abstract Logix.

In 1978, Greg Errico gathered a bunch of musical celebrities for his "Giants" project. Besides Errico, the Giants band and album featured Carlos Santano, Herbie Hancock AND Lady Bianca Thornton-Oden.
This is an excellent, greasy funk album, and if you want a taste of it, you might want to check out:

Yes!! Finally, here it is: "200 Motels" in all its glory.
We've all seen this movie as it got released on VHS video years and years ago.
And now, here's the high quality DVD version.
"200 Motels" got shot in 1971 and featured Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention plus Ringo Starr and Keith Moon, to drop just two names. Now that I think of it, Zappa always had this thing for drummers...
Anyway, "200 Motels" is a milestone in Zappa's career. I'm not too big a fan of the vaudeville aspect and the on-the-road stories, as you cannot keep on laughing with it, but the music is fabulous. It's Zappa at his best.
This DVD offers two versions of the movie: one with the standard soundtrack, and one that has a Tony Palmer interview and comments on top of it.
Excellent stuff.
ESSENTIAL !
