BREWAEYS MEETS ZAPPA

Saturday, October 04, 2025, the Casco Phil ensemble will pay tribute to Luc Brewaeys.
At the Predikherenkerk in Mechelen, Belgium.

The late Belgian composer Luc Brewaeys passed away ten years ago. Zappa fans should be aware that he arranged Frank Zappa's music for the Trio Cucamonga (later also used by the Ryelandt Trio).

The evening is entitled "Brewaeys Meets Zappa".
No details about the program yet, but there will be a world première of an hommage to Brewaeys, composed by none other than Frank Nuyts !!

BEAT LOVE ORACLE - RADICAL RISK

The download / streaming version of Beat Love Oracle's "Radical Risk" has just been released on Bandcamp.

Hardscore was Frank Nuyts' project, releasing several albums between 1997 and 2004.
The first album was recently made available on bandcamp as and 'expanded edition'.

HET VERKEERDE BEEN

 "Het Verkeerde Been" (The Wrong Leg) is a little hardcover booklet that got released to celebrate contemporary composer Frank Nuyts' 65th birthday.

It's a nice 72 page book that presents interviews with Frank's friends and insights in his musical world (and mentions Frank Zappa on a couple of occasions as one of the sources of inspiration).
Plus it comes with 2 CD's !!

A couple of musical book presentations have been scheduled.
One of these will be in Leuven on October 14, 2023, at Barboek.
Another will take place in Mechelen (BE) on October 27, 2023, at De Zondvloed.

FRANK NUYTS = 65

Belgian contemporary composer Frank Nuyts turned 65.
This will be celebrated by the Blindman concert by performing a concert at De Bijloke on August 25.

BEAT LOVE ORACLE CONCERT ANNOUNCED

 Beat Love Oracle, the Belgian contemporary music quartet that features Frank Nuyts, Frank Debruyne, Stijn Deldaele and Ronald Dhane, has a concert scheduled in November.

If I'm not mistaken this is a rescheduled concert due to Covid.
Anyway, place to be is cultural center De Ververij in Ronse, Belgium, especially since Beat Love Oracle does not do that many concerts !!

Last year, November 2020, Frank Nuyts' Beat Love Oracle ensemble released "Who's Counting?", a 4-track vinyl album.

Last month, the album got re-issued (with one bonus track) as a split release with Hardscore. As both B.L.O. and Hardscore are projects by Frank Nuyts we can get the logic behind this.

The result is an impressive package. 5 tracks by the Beat Love Oracle ensemble, and 4 tracks by Hardscore (which at the time of the recording was an 8-piece extended version of B.L.O.)

The àMARXE record label made a package deal for those who wanted to buy both the LP and the CD.

The release of our new CD 'Hardscore versus Beat Love Oracle' is now very near. This CD will be presented by the Spanish label 'Margen Records'. A lot of thanks to Rafa Dorado for his support and enthusiasm for Frank's band music.

It's a hybrid production, combining songs which partially featured on the LP 'Who's counting?' with unreleased songs of 'Carbon Fixation' the last project of the band Hardscore.

CAPPA MEETS ZAPPA

A couple of weeks ago I attended "Cappa Meets Zappa", a fascinating evening where an inspired Mark Janse talked about his passion for the Cappadocian language: how he had been studying this dead language for a number of years and had become the authority only to find out that there were a handful of people left who actually spoke the language.
For the musical intermezzo, Mark had invited Beat Love Oracle to perform some music which they did. Even including some pieces by Frank Zappa as BLO knew that Mark would appreciate it.

Due to popular demand, the evening will be repeated on June 6.
Same location, the Quatre Mains piano center in Ghent, BE.
