The story from the liner notes tells that Hans Vandenburg found the "Topless 16" sampler at a local record store at a young age. Unfortunately, the sleeve did not carry the LP. As the record store owner could not locate the actual LP, Hans got the album cover for free. The album cover wound up on his bedroom wall and he never got to hear the music.
Years later, jump to 2004, Hans and his Gruppo Sportivo bandmates decided to compose the music to the album cover.

"Topless 16" offered 16 imaginary songs by Gruppo Sportivo, inspired by the original song titles and band names.
