PIERRE VERVLOESEM UPDATE

The Off record label is re-releasing remastered versions of Pierre Vervloesem's essential projects.
One album each month.
Every album has been remastered, and some carry bonus material.
After "Home Made", "Fiasco" and "Chef-d'Oeuvre", it's now time for Pierre's collaboration with John Litton Baroï: "Zala Zala".

Another indispensable release in the mind of your United Mutations Archivist & Researcher.

You can read all about it over at the Off blog:

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & HIS MAGIC BAND - LIVE 1966 - 67

Out on the Keyhole record label.
Earlier today, I mentioned the Keyhole khcd 9020 (The Mothers at 'Wollman Rink') and here's his twin brother, khcd9023: Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band with some of their earliest recordings.
"Live 1966-67" presents the complete 1966 Avalon Ballroom recording plus some extra demos and BBC Top Gear session material.
The demos can be found on the "Grow Fins" box, but the complete 1966 Avalon Ballroom recordings make this album a fine addition to the Beefheart collection.

EUGENE CHADBOURNE & JIMMY CARL BLACK - THE JACK & JIM SHOW - HEARING IS BELIEVING

In 2005, Eugene Chadbourne and Jimmy Carl Black did another tour as The Jack And Jim Show.
"Hearing Is Believing" offers recordings from this tour.

I was familiar with the "Hearing Is Believing" CDR-release as I once bought it at a Jack and Jim show, but that one was a private release, on CDR and with a different album cover.

The above pictured version is an actual CD. It was released in 2007 by Boxholder Records and has the same titles as the forementioned CDR-release, minus the Zappa songs, but taken from a different show, I think.

THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - WOLLMAN RINK, CENTRAL PARK, NY, AUGUST 3RD 1968

I don't know which loophole got exploited, but "Wollman Rink, Central park, NY, August 3rd 1968" is being advertised as a new release by The Mothers Of Invention and it's available from most retailers.
I guess we should consider it as some sort of (semi-)official release.

As for the music, the 1968/08/03 recording has been circulating amongst collectors for many years. It's an excellent sounding stage / audience recording featuring the early Mothers Of Invention in one of their insane shows.

ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 8

July 18, 2014.
Day One at the festival grounds.
Expectations were high for the Grandsheiks.
The band had made an excellent first album, and everyone was familiar with some of the bandmembers their previous project, "SheikYerbouti"...

And they delivered.
Familiar tunes, strong vocals and superb musicianship.
The Grandsheiks.

ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 9C

Aranis was one of the highlights of Zappanale #25.
It was about time that I updated their discography over at the United Mutations Archives.

The first album by Aranis is better known as "Aranis I". It presented 10 original compositions by Joris Vanvinckenroye and made clear what Aranis stands for : a contemporary, energetic mix of classical music, prog rock and jazz.
Private release, distributed by Lowlands.

Aranis' second album, aptly called "Aranis II", got released in 2007. It continues where "Aranis I" left off. Chamber rock at its best.
Two violins, an accordion, a piano, a guitar, a flute and a double bass.
Bart Maris guests on trumpet on one track !

Early 2007, Aranis won the Gouden Vleugels (Golden Wings) award.
This resulted in a 15-minute EP with flute player Toon Fret.
7 short pieces. Original material next to works by Bach, Jolivet, Tinctoris and Bartok.

"Songs From Mirage" is one of my personal favorites. The ensemble got expanded by three female vocalists, adding an extra layer of mysticism.
More traditional and classical sounding.
Great stuff.
The band's first release on the Homerecords label.

Album number four, "Roqueforte", has Aranis returning to their typical and recognizable sound.
The overall sound is more powerful due to the added drums and percussion.

The latest episode in the musical adventures of Aranis is entitled "Made In Belgium".
The album presents music that was written by various Belgian composers.
Exceptional.
"Made In Belgium II" is in the works and should be out real soon.

  1. nonchalance  (jan kuijken)
  2. le feu  (wouter vandenabeele)
  3. inara  (ward de vleeschhouwer)
  4. gentlemen of leisure  (wim mertens)
  5. where is grommit  (arne van dongen)
  6. le mar t'eau  (geert waegeman)
  7. short story  (luc de gezelle)
  8. l1  (joris vanvinckenroye)
  9. salernes  (wim  mertens)
  10. bulgarian flying spirit dances 2  (daniel denis)
  11. viaggio fra due fini  (dick van der harst)
  12. ersatz  (roger trigaux)

GNU QUARTET - KARMA

"Karma" is the brand-new album by the italian Gnu Quartet.
Flute, violin, viola and cello.

If you look closely to the album cover, you'll see that it actually reads "Gnu Quartet In Prog". And that's exactly what this is: a beautiful prog rock album.
The quartet performs classics by Frank Zappa, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis (and the New Trolls).

  • peaches en regalia  (frank zappa)
  • roundabout  (j.anderson)
  • the great gig in the sky  (r.wright, c.torry)
  • stereotaxis  (gnu quartet)
  • hairless heart  (s.hackett)
  • concerto grosso i, i tempo, allegro  (l.bacalov)

  • Beautiful.

    Here's a sample :

    ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 9B

Aranis will be presenting their new album, "Made In Belgium II" on the following occasions:

As you can see, most of these concerts will be taking place in Belgium, but there's a gig scheduled in Tokyo, Japan in November as well !

    ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 9A

The Aranis ensemble performed at the first day of the Zappanale Festival.
Scheduled between The Grandsheiks (playing the music of Frank Zappa) and the one and only Magic Band (with John 'Drumbo' French, Denny 'Feelers Reebo' Walley and Mark 'Rockette Morton' Boston !!) doing the music of Captain Beefheart, Aranis took the mystery stage around 20:30 h.

I had to support my fellow compatriots, so I made sure that I was there before the concert started.

    • Liesbeth Lambrecht: viola
    • Marjolein Cools: accordion
    • Stijn Denys: guitar
    • Pierre Chevalier: piano
    • Joris Vanvinckenroye: double bass
    • Jana Arns: flute, vocals
Aranis played a very impressive set. They brought pieces from their latest album "Made In Belgium" and from their forthcoming album "MIB II" that both focus on Belgian composers.

The complete concert featured 12 fine compositions. Unfortunately, I didn't catch all the titles, but the setlist looked a bit like this:

    • Hit (Jan Kuijken)
    • Skip (Peter Vermeersch)
    • Le Feu (Wouter Vandenabeele)
    • Nonchalance (Jan Kuijken)
    • Tolles Pferd (Koen Van Roy)
    • Zappa Improvisation (Pierre Chevalier) using various Frank Zappa themes
    • Bulgarian Flying Spirit Dances 2 (Daniel Denis)
      ...
    • Lever In Plakjes (Joris Vanvinckenroye)
    • Pasta Presto (Joris Vanvinckenroye)
'Skip' by Flat Earth Society chief Peter Vermeersch was the second piece of the set. It's one of the pieces that will be on the next Aranis album. I don't think it will include Jana's rap about the feedback in the monitor, but it sounded great and it makes me look forward to the new album. If I'm not mistaken, Pierre Vervloesem is a guest on tthis new album as well.
Pierre Chevalier's solo piano Zappa improvisation was perfect for the occasion and served as a fine intro for (Univers Zero's) Daniel Denis' 'Bulgarian Flying Spirit Dances 2'.
The concert ended with two compositions by Joris Vanvinckenroye, Aranis' double bass player and resident composer: 'Lever In Plakjes' and 'Pasta Presto'.

    I loved it.
    It was mesmerising.

At a festival, there's two easy ways to tell if the audience likes the performance. If they like it, they're quiet. If they're fascinated, they'll rush to the CD shop as soon as the gig is finished.

In Aranis's case, the audience looked hypnotised when the compositions got performed but burst into applause after each piece. As for the CD's, I bought the titles that were missing in my collection and I wasn't the only one.
    A highlight.

    COURTNEY LOVE AND CAPTAIN BEEFHEART

John Harris' book "Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll: The Ultimate Guide to the Music, The Myths and the Madness" quotes Courtney Love saying :
"In my parallel universe, the No 1 album would be always be Captain Beefheart's "Trout Mask Replica". Kurt and I fucked to that record once. It was amazing sex."  (1994)

    GERRIT DE JAGER

I mentioned this a while ago, but I received a better scan from Kjell Knudde, so here it is again.

Dutch comic book artist Gerrit de Jager added an illustration to the back-cover of "Wordt Vervolgd: Stripleksikon der Lage Landen", a 1979 encyclopedia about Dutch and Flemish comic books by Evelien and Kees Kousemaker.
He illustrated the letter "Z" and added a the cover of Frank Zappa's "Chunga's Revenge" album to the side of the bed.

    KURT COBAIN AND ZAPPA

Here's info from Kjell Knudde about some sort of mixtape that Kurt Cobain made around 1988.

    from :
    http://www.livenirvana.com/digitalnirvana/songguide/body7fd4.html?songid=60

"Montage Of Heck" is a collage that Kurt Cobain assembled with a 4-track cassette recorder around 1988. It features sounds from Kurt's extensive and bizarre record collection, manipulated recordings of the radio, elements of Nirvana demos, and sounds created or recorded by Cobain.
Kurt used to include "Montage Of Heck" on demo tapes.

There are TWO complete and different versions of this "song" to surface:

    * a long stereo version (about 36 minutes long)
    * a short mono version (about 8 min long).

Some material in the short version isn't on the long version, and vice versa.
For instance, the clip of a Nirvana song referred to as "The Landlord" -- where Krist sings that "the landlord is a piece of shit from hell!" -- only appears in the short version.
The two versions are mixed very differently. In the long version, layers of sound move around in two speakers. The short version tends to highlight certain sounds by themselves, rather then presenting them as layers.
Kurt used part of the short version as an intro for the Love Buzz single and this short snippet is often referred to as "Buzz Cut."

Cobain made some other 4-track experiments, too. One of these is often incorrectly referred to as "Montage Of Heck Pt 2" on bootlegs; it is listed in this guide as "Escalator To Hell." It features Kurt recording his voice backwards to say "she's selling the escalator to hell" and some obnoxious guitar noise.

The following songs are featured and/or hidden in either version of "Montage Of Heck" (NOT in this order):
    * "The Men In My Little Girl's Life" by Mike Douglas
    * "The Sounds of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel
    * "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" by The Beatles
    * "A Day In The Life" by The Beatles
    * "Eruption" by Van Halen
    * "Hot Pants" by James Brown
    * "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" by Cher
    * "Go Away Little Girl" by Donny Osmond
    * "Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver
    * "Everybody Loves Somebody" by Dean Martin
    * "The Candy Man" by Sammy Davis, Jr.
    * "In A Gadda Da Vida" by Iron Butterfly
    * "Wild Thing" by William Shatner
    * "Taxman" by The Beatles
    * "I Think I Love You" by The Partridge Family
    * "Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?" by The Barbarians
    * "Queen Of The Reich" by Queensryche
    * "Last Caress/Green Hell" covered by Metallica
    * "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin
    * "Get Down, Make Love" by Queen
    * "ABC" by The Jackson Five
    * "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael
    * "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden
    * "Eye Of The Chicken" by Butthole Surfers
    * "Dance of the Cobra" by Butthole Surfers
    * "The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey's Grave" by Butthole Surfers
    * "New Age" by The Velvet Underground
    * "Love Buzz" by Shocking Blue
    * Orchestral music from 200 Motels by Frank Zappa
    * "Help I'm A Rock" / "It Can't Happen Here" by Frank Zappa
    * "Call Any Vegetable" by Frank Zappa
    * "The Day We Fall In Love" by The Monkees
    * "Sweet Leaf" by Black Sabbath (intro)
    * Theme from The Andy Griffith Show
    * Mike Love (of The Beach Boys) talking about "Transcendental Meditation"
    * Excerpts of Jimi Hendrix speaking at the Monterey Pop Festival
    * Excerpts of Paul Stanley from KISS' Alive!

    ZAPPANALE #25 - PARTS 5 AND 21

This year, the Zappanale expo was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the festival. Dieter, Burkhard and Robert had made an impressive book and were showing a lot of memorabilia, including some very impressive enlarged pictures.

The exposition room was also the space for some concerts.
You have to understand that the expo takes place at the Arf Office, in the centre of Bad Doberan, while the actual festival is held at the horse race track, some five kilometers out of town.
The expo concerts were scheduled around noon so that they wouldn't interfere with the festival.
Successfully, as the expo concerts were well attended.

Friday, July 18, Don Preston and Bunk Gardner performed as The Don And Bunk Show at the expo.

    They played four pieces.
    • Twenty Small Cigars (Frank Zappa)
    • Free Energy (Don Preston)
    • King Kong (Frank Zappa)
    • Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue (Frank Zappa)
Afterwards, they did a fine interview with Jim Cohen.

I thought this was great. There were about thirty people in attendance and they all got a treated to two original Mothers Of Invention playing some fabulous tunes.

Two days later, July 20, The GrandMothers Of Invention performed at the main stage at the festival ground.

    line-up

    ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 6

    Flashback to July.
The Zappanale festival lasted almost a week.
It started out on Wednesday (16/07) in Hamburg, moved over to the center of Bad Doberan  on Thursday (17/07) and kicked off on the festival grounds on Friday (18/07), to finish on Sunday (20/07) evening.

Friday, somewhere in the early afternoon, the School Of Rock was the first band to take the main stage at the festival grounds. Kids / students from the Wilmington School Of Rock followed the directions of school director (and former Project/Object keyboard player) Eric Svalgard and did some Zappa tunes, running on and off stage, passing and switching instruments in-between songs.
    Nice.

    NEW ZAPPA DVD

Chrome Dreams has issued a DVD entitled "Frank Zappa - Freak Jazz, Movie Madness & Another Mothers.

Here's what their website has to say :

Frank Zappa Freak Jazz, Movie Madness and Another Mothers
In August 1969, to the dismay of many fans, Frank Zappa disbanded the original Mothers of Invention. Feeling constrained by the musical abilities of certain members, he cleaned the slate and set about assembling a new group. Hand-picking superior talent from a variety of musical genres, by 1970 the second incarnation of the band was unleashed.
This film focuses on the sophomore Mothers, looking too at the very different projects that book-ended their brief existence; Zappa had incorporated ideas from free jazz and fusion into his music to produce three eccentric albeit influential solo albums. As the new decade dawned and the musical landscape shifted this prolific but often-overlooked period in Frank Zappas career remained a pioneering era for a modern day composer who often confounded both audiences and critics, but who refused to compromise.
Featuring rare footage, archive and exclusive interviews, contributions from many who worked alongside Zappa during this period, rarely seen photographs, and a number of other features which all at once provide for the first documentary film to tackle this phase in the Zappa legend. Includes new interviews with; George Duke, Aynsley Dunbar, Don Preston, Jeff Simmons, Mark Volman, Max Bennett, Sal Marquez, Ian Underwood plus 200 Motels director Tony Palmer, biographers Ben Watson and Billy James and Mojo Magazines Mark Paytress.

NEW DEEP FREEZE MICE ALBUM OUT

As you might expect, it's not really a new album, but a sampler.

It's called "The Best Of The Deep Freeze Mice" and it's a vinyl album with a silcscreened cover.

More info on this DIY post-punk band and on the latest release :

Yes, that's Alan Jenkins' Cordelia Records label. It's the same label that has been releasing the excellent series of Andrew Greenaway's Zappa-related compilations.

WOLFRAM KLUG - BURT, THE NERD

A bit over a month ago, I received my copy of Wolfram Klug's "Burt, The Nerd".
The album features an impressive list of former Zappa sidemen (Ike Willis, Tommy Mars, Ed Mann, Arthur Barrow, Robert Martin and Albert Wing) and tells the story of Burt.
Wolfram Klug, who composed the complete album, did a great job. The way that the story is told, reminds me a lot of Zappa's "Joe's Garage". All the songs sound great (very zappa-esque) and they're all linked to the same story (including a superb version of 'Chunga's Revenge').

Just check out the below sample.

For me, this is one of the best albums I've heard in 2014!

    Essential listening.

During a recent Rockradio interview, Wolfram Klug added that he has enough material to make a documentary about this album.
He also said that it would be great to have it performed live...
    Now that would be something.

You might remember Jeff Hollie as the saxophone player on Zappa's "Joe's Garage" album. Jeff has performed with Ike Willis and Cuccurullo Brillo Brullo, and more recently with Ike Willis and Zappatika.

SPANNER JAZZ PUNKS - NE'ER-DO-WELL ADVENTURES

UK band Spanner Jazz Punks headlined the Moo-Ah festival in Corby, UK, in 2013. More recently, July 2014, they performed at the Zappanale festival in Bad Doberan, Germany.

    Their website (http://www.spannerhq.com/) says:
Conceived in the cauldron of demon frontman Dan Spanner’s maniacal mind, Spanner Jazz Punks are the troublesome offspring of a frenetic marriage between sleazy punk jazz and psychedelic performance art. With their roots in the legendary French chainsaw-juggling circus company Archaos, Spanner Jazz Punks have been steeped in a brew of psychedelic rock, ska, gypsy, klezmer and big band swing, and come out kicking, screaming and spinning yarns of quixotic, tragic, heroic ne’er-do-well adventure.

As far as I know "Ne'er-Do-Well Adventures" is the first Spanner Jazz Punks release.
    It sounds fresh and funny.
And it includes a couple of very familiar Zappa tunes !!

    DWALMACAT 577

This week, Dwalmacat offers another nice selection of familiar and unfamiliar tunes.

    DOCTOR NERVE – Splinter
    DEAN ELLIOT – Lonesome road

    ZAPPANALE #25 - PART 16

Saturday, July 17, 2014, the Spanner Jazz Punks performed at the Zappanale festival in Bad Doberan, Germany.
    • Adam Bickerton: bass
    • Paul Chousmer: keyboard
    • Bobby Demers: drums
    • Dan Spanner: lead vocals, alto sax, clarinets, guitars
    • Helen Tate: violin, vocals, trombone

The Spanner Jazz Punks performed right after The Muffin Men and before The Crimson ProjeKCt. That's probably not the best moment if you want to catch the crowd's attention but the Spanner Jazz Punks pulled it off. Led by Dan Spanner, the quintet played a very entertaining set. There were lots of musical surprises and the set included quite a number of Zappa compositions and references.
One of my favourite concerts of this year's Zappanale.

The above and below snapshots were taken by Zappateer NotPedro.

THE DEVIANTS - THIS CD IS CONDEMNED

I got the Mick Farren and the Deviants releases mixed up in yesterday's newsflash. Mick Farren recorded FZ's 'Trouble Every Day' in 1978 for his "Vampires Stole My Lunch Money" album.
The Deviants released 'Trouble Every Day' in 1984 on their "Human Garbage" album.
It can also be found on the "On Your Knees Earthlings" sampler that got released in 2001.

One year earlier, in 2000, the Total Energy label had already released another Deviants' sampler.
Again, a powerful set of songs, with stunning artwork.

THE DEVIANTS - ON YOUR KNEES EARTHLINGS !!!

Mick Farren (of Deviants fame) recorded Frank Zappa's 'Trouble Coming Every Day' and released it in 1978 on his "Vampires Stole My Lunch Money" album.
The Deviants released it on "Human Garbage" in 1984.

The track can also be found on the excellent "On Your Knees Earthlings !!!" sampler that got released in 2001.
The album does include a number of unreleased tracks as well, one of which is Dylan's 'It's All Right Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)'.

THE NORWEGIAN RADIO ORCHESTRA - PERFECT STRANGERS

On "Perfect Strangers", The Norwegian Radio Orchestra and conductor Thomas Sondergard present a recording of the February 11, 2010, concert that the orchestra did in Oslo.
At this concert, the ensemble present works by Heiner Goebbels and by Frank Zappa.

Heiner Goebbels 'Suite For Sampler And Orchestra From Surrogate Cities' is performed next to Frank Zappa's 'Dog / Meat', 'Dupree's Paradise', 'The Perfect Stranger', 'G-Spot Tornado' and 'Revised Music For Low Budget Orchestra'.
This is good. This is very good.

I've been listening to the album with my headphones on and the sound is excellent. Especially the percussion sounds superb.
I definitely need to hear this through my stereo speakers.
That'll most likeley be something for tomorrow.

    Essential listening !!

KVHW - LIVE AT THE LIP

Browsing Ray White's entry at the United Mutations Archives, I noticed that I was still missing the data for one of his KVHW albums.

From early 1998 until December 1999, Ray toured and recorded with KVHW: Steve Kimock, Bobby Vega, Alan Hertz and Ray White, hence KVHW.
KVHW released two albums. A first one called "9/28/1998 And 10/24/1998", and a second one entitled "Live At The Lip". It seems that this second album was a CDR-release that was only made available on tour in 1999 and through the Jambase shop for about two weeks around the same time.

I did find a tracklist on the web, but I could sure use a nice scan of the album cover.
Or the actual album. It has been on want-list for almost 15 years now.

ELISA FISHER - IKE WILLIS MEETS THE CATHOLIC GIRLS

Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Elisa Fisher released a download-only album in 2012 entitled "Ike Willis Meets The Catholic School Girls".
As one might expect Ike Willis took part in the recording of this album, as did his former Zappa-band colleague Ray White.
I haven't heard the album, but the soundsamples that can be found (on CDBaby) do not exactly sound zappa-esque... Furthermore, Ike can only be heard on two of the tracks and Ray just on one.

Data have been added to the United Mutations Archives.
Thanks to franktomatozappa from mentioning this release on the Zappateers forum.

    ZAPPERLOT! 2014

Just got back from the Zapperlot! festival in Switzerland.
3 days of excellent music and friendly people.

Actually, we're back a little bit sooner than expected, but that's all due to the fact that one of us had a little accident descending the Riggisalp on a 'trottinette géante"...
Nothing broken. Just a lot of bruises.
    And, no, it wasn't me.

But Zapperlot! was nice. Very nice.
Let me get back to that later.

THE SUN RA ARKESTRA - LIVE IN NICKELSDORF 1984

March 11, 1984, The Sun Ra Arkestra performed a 2-hour plus show in Nickelsdorf.
This 3 CD set is a recording of the complete concert. And it's an excellent concert, if I may say so.

    Great tunes and fine improvisations.
    Stunning artwork.
Out on the Trost record label.

Here's a more recent performance of 'Discipline 27-II', The Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of Marshal Allan.

    THE RESIDENTS - THE HIGHWAY

    • the residents: walk-in for shadowland - the highway
(2014, cd, usa, the cryptic corporation)

"The Residents present A Charles Bobuck Contraption - The Highway".

    6 tracks.
Walk-in music for the Shadowland concerts.
    Percussive patterns and soundscapes.
    Beautiful.

The liner notes (translated from Spanish) say something like:
    "The highway.
Many decades ago, I hitchhiked from my childhood home in Texas to my new home in San Francisco. The dramatic desert landscape fascinated me and I then decided that the trip would be a good source for a musical interpretation.
Unfortunately, the music that I wrote did not represent the journey so I abandoned the idea long ago.
This is not the music that I wrote at that time. But I find it convenient to pretend that it is."

    SUN RA ON ITUNES

Is there a better way to compare the new iTunes releases with the original recordings?

    from the Saturn newsgroup :

Sun Ra Arkive continues its review and mastering comparison of the new 2014 "Mastered for iTunes" releases via iTunes, with our next installment of 4 titles. Michael "The Good Doctor" Anderson (http://sunraarchive.webstarts.com/), Irwin Chusid (http://irwin.wfmu.org/), and Sun Ra LLC utilized new hi-res transfers from the master tapes where available and, as you can hear, the results are a uniformly excellent improvement from previous releases of this music.

    QUANTUM FANTAY - AGAPANTHUSTERRA

My pal Danny told me to check out Quantum Fantay. I did by ordering their first album (the 2007 re-release of their first album that is) and I liked it. Much to my surprise, when I was searching YouTube to hear some more, I noticed that they had performed at the Zappanale festival  in 2012.
I was there... How could I have missed that ?!?
The program booklet gave me a probable answer: they were the last band to play on the first day at the festival. On the same they that had Co de Kloet's interview with George Duke, and concerts by Gargantua, Triggerfinger, Just Another Band and the George Duke / Jean-Luc Ponty duo.
I probably caught a few songs, but somehow it hadn't been stored in my memory.
Too much is just too much.

Anyway, Quantum Fantay hail from Lokeren, Belgium. Actually, the band was supposed to be called "Quantum Fantasy", but do to a missing letter 's' they became Quantum Fantay.
The band has been making music since 2002. Spacerock, to be more exact. Psychedelic synthesizer soundscapes.
After their 2002 demo, the band released "Agapanthusterra" in 2005. Their most recent album, "Terragaia", is album number eight in their discography.

"Agapanthusterra" has every element that you expect from a progressive rock / spacerock band: imaginative and melodic instrumental soundscapes,

    Nice.
