Tony Levin :
With the passing of the wonderful musician Ayub Ogada, it seemed right to share this duet. Recorded at Real World Studios by David Bottrill, Ayub played his nyatiti and sang, while I did some funk fingers bass and sang harmony. A train went by while we were running the song down, which inspired the title, and engineer Tchad Blake kindly donated his recording of that train, which we inserted into the take. It's from my World Diary CD.

I mentioned this excellent album by Dominique Vantomme a little while ago as I had given the digital version a listen. In the meantime, I received the CD so I'm now able to give you a little update.

"Vegir" is a very enjoyable album. It's the perfect soundtrack to unwind.

TONY LEVIN - WORLD DIARY

Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) released his first solo album in 1995 : "World Diary".
MoonJune Records recently made the record digitally available through bandcamp.
(CD copies are still available as well.)

"World Diary" is an extraordinary album.

Tony performs with Shankar, violin and vocal, in a room in the Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg, duets with King Crimson colleague Bill Bruford at Bruford's house. Tony plays electric double bass in the Hotel Royal Monceau in Paris with Levon Minassian on doudouk. Others with whom he collaborates on the CD are: Ayub Ogada - nyatiti & vocal, Brian Yamakoshi - koto, Bendik - tenor sax, Nexus - a five man percussion ensemble, Manu Katche - drums, and Jerry Marotta - drums.
