I'm currently finishing recording work on a new guitar centered instrumental album that features Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller and Lalle Larsson, which hopefully will be out later this year.

“Is There..." is a six part electroacoustic suite that I composed and recorded between March and June of 1997 under the alias of Julius Crab. First premiered on July 17th 1997, the initial impetus for starting this piece came after hearing a performance of Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Hymnen at Cardiff University several months earlier which opened me up to some electroacoustic compositional possibilities. However the initial musical inspiration for this piece was somewhere between the Aphex Twin's early ambient works and Steve Reich's 1960s experimental tape loop phasing pieces such as "Come Out”.

Remastered and made available through Bandcamp in 2023 !

NEW RELEASE BY PHI YAAN-ZEK

 Phi Yaan-Zek has just released a new album: "Restful Spaces - Volume One".

In his latest message, he adds:

I have just released a new album! It’s a deep and spacious ambient guitar affair that’s perfect for this time of year as things wind down. It is called ‘Restful Spaces - Volume One’ and is a set of recently rediscovered live solo guitar with loop pedal recordings I made in 2011 for the 5 Rhythms Sunday Sweat Dance in London. It’s certainly a change of pace from the intense twist and turns of last month’s release of ‘Holotropic Guitar - 20th Anniversary Edition’ (do check that out if you haven’t already done so), and showcases the atmospheric, introspective and thematic side to my music.

A superb musical science-fiction epos that features Dweezil Zappa, Mike Keneally, Phi Yaan-Zek, Marco Minnemann and Morgan Ågren, just to mention the most familiar sounding names.
