James Taylor's touring band will not only feature Lou Marini (who you can hear on Zappa In New York) and Walt Fowler ("Roxy" and the 1988 band !!), but also Chad Wackerman.

Session musician John Tropea's discography features quite a number of people who have worked with Frank Zappa.
Lou Marini, Ronnie Cuber, the Brecker Brothers, Don Grolnick and Lou Del Gatto (these latter two were part of the SNL band that performed with FZ)

BLUE LOU MARINI

Lou Marini was part of Zappa's horn section when he recorded "Zappa In New York".
A couple of years later, Blue Lou Marini was playing some fine saxophone solos in The Blues Brothers Movie.

Here's the scene where The Blues Brothers pick up Aretha Franklin, Matt Guitar Murphy and Blue Lou Marini.

As Steve Gadd is unavailable for James Taylor's upcoming concerts, Chad Wackerman will fill in for Steve until February 14.

This means that James Taylor's band is featuring three former Zappa bandmembers (Walt Fowler, Lou Marini and Chad Wackerman) the next couple of gigs.
Wonder if they'll be talking about their former employer backstage?

LOU MARINI AND TOM MALONE

New Year's Eve had the first Blues Brothers movie on t.v.
Hadn't seen that movie in fifteen or twenty years.

A great movie.
And it featured Lou Marini and Tom Malone as part of the Blues Brothers Band.
Lou Marini and Tom Malone, who not only both played in the Saturday Night Live band, but who also performed and recorded with Frank Zappa.

Where's that copy of "Zappa In New York" ?
