L'ORKESTRE DES PAS PERDUS - MAISON DOUCE MAISON

  • l'orkestre des pas perdus: maison douce maison
        (1998, cd, canada, ambiences magnetiques)
The latest discovery is called L'Orkestre De Pas Perdus, a Canadian brass ensemble.
They recorded Frank Zappa's 'Chunga's Revenge' on one of their albums, which was the perfect invitation for a further investigation.

The band has released 5 albums between 1996 and 2011, adding another album with older material in 2021.
And quite the discovery it is.
Great tunes, excellent performances and beautiful arrangements and solos.
And funny as well.

I love the energy and the jazz/funk approach.

"Maison Douce Maison" got released in 1998. It was the band's second album.
All pieces were written by Claude St-Jean, who also plays the trombone.
Next to Claude, there's Rémi Leclerc (drums), Jean-Denis Levasseur (alto sax, clarniet,...), Roberto Murray (tenor sax, flute,...), Jean Sabourin (sousaphone) and Maxim St-Pierre (trumpet, flugelhorn).

Check them out. They're amazing !!
