It mentions Frank zappa a couple of times ('Holiday In Berlin').

SPAFFORD - FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY

  • spafford: for amusement only
        (2018, 2lp, usa, private release
American jam band Spafford released their "For Amusement Only" album in 2018.
On splatter vinyl in a limited edition of fifty copies. Yes, fifty.
But the album's available digitally as well.

A nice discovery.

ERWIN VANN, MICHEL HATZIGEORGIOU, DRÉ PALLEMAERTS - ELEVEN

  • erwin vann, michel hatzigeorgiou, dré pallemaerts: eleven
        (1995, cd, bel, carbon 7)
In the early nineties, saxophone player and composer Erwin Vann teamed up with Michel Hatzigeorgiou and Dré Pallemaerts to record "Eleven".
Lyrical jazz in trio: sax, bass and percussion. Beautiful.
It's hard to imagine that this album got released about 25 years ago.

PHIL LESH & FRIENDS - THERE AND BACK AGAIN

  • phil lesh & friends: there and back again
        (2002, 2cd, usa, columbia)

Earlier today, I was happy to give Phil Lesh & Friends' "There And Back Again" a listening session.
Phil Lesh used to play the bass in The Grateful Dead. He's joined by Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring who add some excellent guitar to the songs.
11 fine songs, plus 4 if you get the limited edition 2 CD set.
Feelgood stuff.
Nice. Very nice.

THE ED PALERMO BIG BAND - THE GREAT UN-AMERICAN SONGBOOK VOL.III - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

I finally got around to adding the latest Ed Palermo Big Band album to the United Mutations Archives (and to The Others Of Invention).
"The Great Un-American Songbook Vol.III" is another beautiful tribute to the music that Ed grew up with: The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Trafic,... all mixed with a fine dose of Frank Zappa.

Over the top?  Too complicated?
Well,... I love it. I guess it's an acquired taste.

LOS VISIONARIOS - SIQUIATRIA ELEMENTAL

  • los visionarios: siquiatria elemental
(2018, cd, spain, hall of fame)
Manoel Macía,, Luis G. (Caballero Reynaldo) and Román García are Los Visionarios.
Their "Siquiatria Elemental" (Elementary Psychiatry) album got released in 2018 and presents 15 songs in a great looking package.

The album cover already shows that it's all about the brain. My Spanish isn't good enough to understand the lyrics (all present in the booklet) but the song titles suggest it's all about mental disorders.
15 innocent sounding pop songs about mental disorders.
Sounds like the perfect study object for students of the Spanish language.
