ALIENO DEBOOTES - UNCONVENTIONAL RESIDENTS

  • alieno debootes: unconventional residents
        (2022, cd, austria, klanggalerie)
TOOK is a sublabel of the Klanggalerie record label. TOOK is the home for limited edition, Residents-related CD releases.
Often, these TOOK albums are released to coincide with a regular Residents release.

Around the same time that Klanggalerie released Hardy Fox's "Ibbur", TOOK number 9 saw the light of day.
Alieno deBootes is (one of) Alessandro Pizzin's projects. Keyboard player, composer and arranger Alessandro Pizzin was also a part of I Fratelli Di Masci AKA De Break A Dabrians, and ensemble that contributed their version of Frank Zappa's 'The Grand Wazoo' on one of the Unmatched / Zappa tribute compilation albums.
TOOK #9 is Alieno deBootes tribute to The Residents. Except for three (original) short pieces, "Unconventional Residents" presents re-arranged music by The Residents.
Alessandro Pizzin and Alessandro Monti are featured on most of the tracks but there's also an impressive list of guest musicians, each adding their specific sound to the tracks.

Love it.
Superb.

It was a nice surprise to find Luis Gonzalez, Christophe Godin, Roberto Marchetto and Franco Moruzzi contributing to some of the tunes.
Luis Gonzalez (Caballero Reynaldo) has contributed immensely to the Zappa Universe, as a performer as well as a record label manager.
Christophe Godin should need no introduction either. Everybody should be well acquainted with his jazz/rock/fusion inspired guitar work, both as a solo artist or with Mörglbl.
Roberto Marchetto was the guitar player for Lagunablé, a band that recorded Frank Zappa's 'Crew Slut' and released it on their 1997 "$chei E Paura? Mai 'Vùi!" album.
And drummer and percussionist Franco Moruzzi was also part of the previously mentioned I Fratelli Di Masci AKA De Break A Dabrians ensemble.

The bad news is that "Unconventional Residents" is already sold out.
On the other hand, I do assume that it will eventually be made available through the Klanggalerie Bandcamp page.
