PIETRO SCUDERI WROTE A BOOK ON FRANK ZAPPA'S CLASSICAL WORKS

  • pietro scuderi: gli approdi sinfoinici di frank zappa
        (2021, book, italy, arcana)
190 page pocket sized book. In Italian.
A musical analysis of FZ's musical output, with a focus on the orchestral and electronical music pieces.
The book ends with a little chapter called "Frank Zappa Lives On", mentioning albums and live performances of FZ's music in Italy.

"ZAPPANALE - IT HAPPENED HERE"

A couple of years ago, Zappa freak Burkhard Schempp made this little book called "Zappa's Music Is Still Very Much Alive !".

He recently produced an updated version entitled "Zappanale - It Happened Here".

The 160 pages present highlights from Zappanale (setlists & pictures), a complete listing of the Zappanale CD's including track lists, a complete listing of the "Zappa Spielt Für Bach" series, a nice set of Zappanale pictures, and info on the different expos that were done during Zappanale.
As a bonus, the booklet included a blu-ray with audio recordings of several Zappanale concerts, as well as  the music from the promotional Zappanale albums.

What a beautiful piece of work. And not just the contents. It looks really great.

Private release and very limited. (And I'm very happy that I was able to contribute to it.)

MIKE KENEALLY'S "SCAMBOT 2" AND "INKLING" ARE ON BANDCAMP

Both Mike Keneally's "Scambot 2" and "Inkling" have been released on Bandcamp.

On his newsletter Mike added:
This will be the first time that the album Inkling has been available for streaming online anywhere ever ever! Both albums also include the usual exhaustive booklets and liner notes.
These titles will now join our old pals Scambot 1, Songs & Stories Inspired by Scambot 1, and the Scambot Holiday Special in our Bandcamp inventory of exciting Scambot-oriented material.

As it happens, and if you’re feeling particularly Scambotty, I recently did a deep think-slash-talk about the entire Scambot saga with my bud Chris Siebold for his YouTube channel, and you can see it right dang here if you’ve a mind to.

STEFANO BOLLANI - JOY IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING

  • stefano bollani: joy in spite of everything
        (2014, cd, Germany, ecm)
For "Joy In Spite Of Everything", Italian jazz pianist and composer worked together with Jasper Bodilsen (double bass), Morten Lund (drums), Mark Turner (saxophone) and Bill Frisell (guitar).

No Frank Zappa references on this album by Stefano, but what an incredibly beautiful record. And they make it all sound so easy.

Released in 2014.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - ELECTRIC LADYLAND III

  • Various Artists: Electric Ladyland III
        (1996, cd, Germany, mille plateaux)

Si (Simon) Begg sampled Frank Zappa’s ‘Don’t You Ever Wash That Thing?’ in ‘Nothing Is A True Zen Say’ and in ‘Nothing Is What I Want’, both released on his “Nothing Is A True Zen Say” 12” EP in 1996.
The titles of both pieces also refer to the lyrics of FZ's 'Dummy Up'.

The ’Nothing Is What I Want’ piece would also get released on the “Electric Ladyland III” compilation album, later in 1996.

A remastered version of both tracks got released in 2016 on Si Begg’s “Position Chrome EP 1996” Bandcamp release.

The sampling starts at around 37 seconds into both tracks.
